Coningsby Metals Ltd is a major supplier of welded mesh to British Industry and since 1971 has been cutting panels to size for every imaginable application from car park security to kennelling, catteries, storage systems, grain tunnels, potato crates, coastal defence gabions, shelving and racking.

CML stock an extensive range of light and heavy gauge welded mesh in both self colour, pre & post galvanised wire. Mesh is usually held in 4, 6 and 8 foot wide rolls 120' long from which custom panels are guillotined and flattened to exact sizes. We also supply mesh in 8' x 4' standard panels.

A wide variety of other mesh is available to order in stainless steel and aluminium, we are suppliers of expanded metal in standard 8' x 4' sheets.

Our experienced staff are always pleased to discuss the best way to cut mesh for a particular job and are happy to quote for an individual panel or a pallet of 1000's.

Quality Standards
Gauge Sizes
Dimensions shown are for galvanised wire. Weldmesh self-colour specifications will vary between 0.04mm and 0.12mm below the galvanised wire dimension as shown in the Weidmesh Gauges Guide.

Galvanised Weldmesh
The bulk of galvanised Weldmesh is hot dip galvanised to the highest standards and conforms to BS EN 10244-2 Class A (replaces BS443). Should a thicker coat be necessary, ie. BS EN ISO 1461 (replaces BS729), this can be obtained on request. Pre-galvanised Weldmesh (mesh made from galvanised wire) can also be produced on request.

Tolerances
The following criteria should be used for
measuring rolls of Weldmesh.

a) Cumulative line wire and cross wire spacings must be within + or - 2mm per foot. eg:
1ft of mesh + or -
(2mm)
2ft of mesh + or - (1/8")
(3mm)
3ft of mesh + or - (3/16")
(5mm)
4ft of mesh + or - (1/4")
(6mm)
5ft of mesh + or - (5/16")
(8mm)
6ft - 12ft + or - (1/2")
(12mm)
b) Individual mesh spacings must be within:
+ or - 1/16" on 3/4" mesh and above + or - 1/32" (1mm) on 1/2" mesh up to 3/4".
c) At all times the aperture count must be correct.
d) a mximum tolerance allowed on any length of mesh + or - 1/2" for rolls.
e) Squareness is assessed by taking the difference in diagonal measurements. (see diagram on the right).

Squareness = difference between (a) and (b) where X = roll width.
